Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards says the state is still recovering from the pandemic and recent hurricanes.
Edwards gave the comments at his annual "end of the year" press conference on Thursday.
The state experienced two surges of the coronavirus this year, but Edwards points out that vaccines are now widely available.
Hurricane Ida made landfall in late August, only about a year after Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
