Mardi Gras Parade Routes Announced

New Orleans is announcing the changes to Mardi Gras parade routes.

They include having Uptown parades skip Magazine Street along with Rex starting at Napoleon and Carondelet before going to its original route.

Endymion will skip Gallier Hall and have a toasting spot in a different area.

Zulu's route will be what it was in 2020 but still go through traditional neighborhoods.

A police officer shortage is being blamed for the modified routes.

"The big news and the best news is that Mardi Gras is returning to the City of New Orleans and to the world in 2022. It is happening," said New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

Parades were not held this year due to COVID-19 concerns.

The carnival season begins on February 18.
