The city is having trouble meeting the demand for at-home coronavirus tests as people respond to the omicron variant before the holidays.
City officials had announced that four New Orleans fire stations would distribute the free test kits until 4 p.m. Wednesday and continue today, but the giveaway ended less than an hour and a half after it started.
Once the fire stations ran out of tests, the city started to distribute them at New Orleans library branches. Those supplies ran out before the end of the day.
