President Biden's extension of a pause in student loan repayments through May 1 is good news to a lot of Louisiana residents.
Data from Student Loan Hero indicate that the average balance for federal and private student loans in the state is nearly $34,000.
That's lower than the national average of almost $37,000, but it's enough to make Louisiana 18th in the country for the most student loan debt.
In Baton Rouge, the average tops $40,000, higher than both the state and national averages.
