State health officials say coronavirus hospitalizations in Louisiana have doubled in a week because of the omicron variant.
The Louisiana Department of Health reported Sunday that 449 people statewide are now in the hospital with the virus, with 80% of the hospitalized patients are not fully vaccinated.
As of the week ending December 18, LDH estimates nearly 85% of coronavirus cases in Louisiana are the omicron variant.
