Gov. John Bel Edwards is announcing a new federally funded mortgage relief program to help people affected by the pandemic.

The Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Fund will assist homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments and facing foreclosure.

Louisiana will receive $147 million, or up to $25,000 per eligible homeowner. The funding comes from the $10 billion American Rescue Plan Act.
