Hammond police are awaiting autopsy results for a man whose body was found inside a garbage truck on Tuesday.
Investigators say 42-year-old Jermaine Watts apparently slept in a dumpster to get out of the cold.
After the dumpster's contents were emptied into a garbage truck, Watts was killed by the truck's mechanical compactor.
Police say there are no signs of foul play.
The coroner's office is working on Watts's cause of death, as well as toxicology reports.
