The man caught with a woman's headless torso in a freezer on his property now faces a charge of second-degree murder.
New Orleans police arrested 34-year-old Benjamin Beale last Tuesday after officers found the remains while executing a search warrant related to a missing woman.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office hasn't said whether the remains are those of the missing woman, identified as 36-year-old Julia Dardar.
Beale was arrested for obstruction of justice after refusing to answer questions about the body.
He also faces various drugs and weapons charges.
