Destrehan High School is open again for the first time since Hurricane Ida.

The school reopened on Tuesday, 141 days after the storm caved in the building's roof and did a lot of other damage.

Principal Jason Madere says the commons area, the administrative offices, and the library were destroyed.

While the school was being rebuilt, Destrehan's 1,300 students shared the campus of Hahnville High School.

Madere says there are still a number of lesser repairs that need to be made.
