Some homeowners in southeastern Louisiana are stunned by sharp increases in their home insurance costs.
A local insurance broker says three hurricanes in two years, plus the rising cost of building materials, are driving policy prices up 30 to 50 percent upon renewal.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says he hasn't approved any increases, but when he does, he expects them to be more in the seven- to ten-percent range.
