Donelon Gives Numbers On Insurance Claims, Payments After Ida

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon is reporting the numbers run up by Louisiana insurers as a result of Hurricane Ida.

Donelon stated on Monday that insurers paid or reserved more than $10 billion on Ida-related claims in the state through the end of 2021.

He added policyholders filed more than 430,000 claims from the hurricane as of December 31.

More than 259,000 claims were closed with payments totaling $6.5 billion.
