The State Fire Marshal's office says Louisiana just had its deadliest fire-fatality month since 2018.
Fire Marshal Butch Browning says there were 15 fire fatalities statewide this past month.
Browning says that's the most fire deaths in a January in Louisiana since four years ago, when there were 20.
He says most of the victims died in house fires related to cold weather.
Browning reminds people to be careful with space heaters, don't try to heat their homes with stoves, don't leave candles unattended, and have working smoke alarms.
