Gov. John Bel Edwards is denying claims that he tried to obscure or misconstrue Ronald Greene's death in state police custody.

Edwards made the comments on Tuesday.

The governor reportedly received a text from the head of the state police a few hours after Greene's death following his arrest in 2019.

Critics are asking what Edwards knew and when he knew it, since Greene's death was initially blamed on a traffic accident.

Edwards insisted he was never involved in the investigation.
