The mask and vaccination mandates in New Orleans will remain in effect in the city at least through Mardi Gras.

The Louisiana Supreme Court on Friday denied requests for an expedited hearing on a lawsuit challenging the rules and for a temporary restraining order.

A group of more than 100 plaintiffs sued Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the city's Health Department last month, claiming the mandates violate their constitutional rights.

The court set the lawsuit's first hearing for March 3, two days after Mardi Gras.
