Jefferson Parish school officials reported a sickout among its bus drivers on Thursday afternoon.

Dozens of drivers called in sick before their scheduled time to pick up kids from schools.

The drivers made the move to underscore their demand for a $10,000 pay raise, plus $60 a day to cover routes other than their own assignments.

School officials say the sickout affected 64 bus routes.

They issued a statement apologizing to parents for the inconvenience.
