The AAA Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Louisiana is $3.89 a gallon for regular unleaded, down seven cents from a week ago and is a $1.40 more than a year ago.
The national average is $4.24.
Demand for gas is down but the rising price of crude is keeping the pump price from decreasing even more.
The average price at the pump in New Orleans is $4.10. The average price in Baton Rouge is $4.06.
