The local Marianite order is reporting the abduction of a New Orleans area nun who's been working as a missionary in Africa.
A prayer vigil is planned in New Orleans for 83-year-old Suellen Tennyson, who was kidnapped on Monday night in the African nation of Burkina Faso.
Her whereabouts are unknown.
Tennyson is from Kenner and worked as a Marianite nun in the New Orleans area for years.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans says Tennyson has been a missionary in Burkina Faso since 2014.
