A man convicted of second-degree murder in the death of an LSU basketball player faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
An East Baton Rouge Parish jury on Monday found Dyteon Simpson guilty of killing Wayde Sims in 2018.
Prosecutors said Simpson killed Sims on Harding Boulevard near Southern University during a fight involving several people.
The verdict capped a three-day trial that started last Thursday.
