Plans to create a temporary FEMA housing camp in Metairie for Hurricane Ida victims have hit a roadblock.

The agency had proposed the camp on a six-acre field on Houma Boulevard near Manhattan Street.

But Jefferson Parish officials announced on Monday that FEMA and the land's owners hadn't been able to agree to the terms of the lease.

FEMA has placed temporary housing units at existing RV and mobile home parks in other parishes, but Jefferson Parish doesn't have many of those facilities available.
