A Louisiana bill that would allow women to be prosecuted for murder if they get an abortion is being halted for now.

The state lawmaker who authored the bill pulled it back after the House of Representatives voted to amend it.

As amended, the bill would reaffirm current law that would prohibit abortions if the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision were overturned.

GOP State Representative Danny McCormick of Oil City decided to table the measure after the amendment passed.

The bill could still come up for a vote at anther time in the legislative session.
