Family members are reporting the death of longtime boxing promoter Les Bonano on Saturday night. His cause of death was not announced.
Bonano was a New Orleans police officer from 1965 to 1982, and was chief deputy for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office until 1992.
He was also a boxing promoter and trainer for more than 5 years.
Bonano was inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame last year.
He was the father of Jefferson Parish Councilman Deano Bonano.
