A Louisiana lawmaker is expressing support for the idea of a floating abortion clinic in the Gulf of Mexico, beyond the reach of a state abortion ban.
A California OB-GYN is working with a nonprofit to raise funds for an abortion clinic on a boat in the Gulf.
State Rep. Mandie Landry, a New Orleans Democrat, says there are enough maritime lawyers in Louisiana to work out whatever legal problems may exist.
Landry says there's also talk about providing abortions at the VA Clinic in New Orleans. The VA is federal property, where state law wouldn't apply.
