Sen. John Kennedy is introducing a bill to stop the sale of oil from America's strategic petroleum reserve to foreign countries.
The Louisiana Republican says the goal of the No Emergency Crude Oil to Foreign Adversaries Act is to stop "selling off American oil to countries that hate us."
The bill would require countries such as Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea to obtain a waiver from the Secretary of Energy to receive future exports from the petroleum reserve.
The idea is to make sure any such sale serves American interests.
