Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams's federal tax fraud trial is scheduled to start this morning.

Williams and his former law partner are accused of defrauding the U.S. Treasury of more than $200,000 in taxes.

Prosecutors say a tax preparer helped them overstate their tax write-offs and understate their income between 2013 and 2017.

The defendants face ten felony counts of tax fraud. Conviction on even one count would cause them to lose their licenses to practice law in Louisiana, forcing Williams out of office as a result.
