Police response times to 911 calls are reportedly growing in New Orleans.

An average wait time of two-and-a-half hours on an emergency call is the latest figure being reported.

While NOPD disputes the claims, some City Council members are blaming leadership for lack of officers - the main contributing factor to long waits for 911 calls.

The data revealed to City Council on Wednesday shows the lengthy wait time was the case in 40% of major calls for service, which officials say could lead to under-reporting crimes in the city.
