As we near the peak of hurricane season, the Atlantic continues to remain active.

Tropical Storm Earl may become the season's first major hurricane, with the National Hurricane Center forecasting its maximum winds may peak later this week at 115 miles per hour, which would make it a Category 3.

The NHC says interests in Bermuda should closely keep an eye on Earl's track.

Hurricane Danielle continues to meander over the central north Atlantic, eventually beginning to weaken later this week as it becomes an extratropical system. It is not a threat to land.

In the eastern tropical Atlantic, there is a medium chance of development from an area of showers and storms near the Cabo Verde Islands.

"Environmental conditions are conducive for some development of this system, and a tropical depression could form in a few days while moving westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic," said the NHC.

Forecasters will also watch a tropical wave over western Africa after it moves over water in the next day or two.

"Environmental conditions appear generally conducive for some slow development thereafter as the system moves west-northwestward over the eastern tropical Atlantic," they said.

The 2022 Atlantic hurricane season runs through November 30.
