The homicide count in New Orleans so far in 2022 is now higher than the total number recorded in 2020.
Data from the Metropolitan Crime Commission says there have been 205 homicides in the city this year, compared to 201 in all of 2020, and 139 as of this time last year.
If this keeps up, the commission says New Orleans could top last year's total of 218 homicides by the end of this month.
