Tesla is suing Louisiana over a state law that keeps it from selling its electric cars directly to customers.

The lawsuit names the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association, several officials on the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission, and some Louisiana car dealerships as defendants.

Tesla sells its cars directly to customers where it can, but Louisiana and some other states require car sales through dealerships.

Tesla is based in Austin, and may be using the Louisiana suit as a test case to fight a similar law in Texas.
