Five high-ranking jail officers in the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office are out of a job as of Wednesday.
Major Robert Donnelly reportedly stepped down while Captains Danny Henry, Mark Jones, Jerry Martin and Cathy Taylor were fired "for cause."
A spokesman gave no details about the reasons.
The five officers had a total of more than 100 years of experience with the sheriff's office.
Sheriff Susan Hutson called the dismissals a "strategic realignment."
There have been several stabbings and two inmate deaths since Hutson took office in May.
