A police consultant has come up with a draft list of 50 recommendations to improve the performance of the New Orleans police.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell hired Fausto Pichardo on August 31 for at least a six-month term as a consultant.
Pichardo is the former head of the NYPD patrol division.
Among his recommendations are the immediate reassignment of 212 officers to patrol duty.
Pichardo says both residents and tourists deserve to be able to enjoy New Orleans without becoming victims of violent crime.
