An Orleans Parish civil court judge is issuing a restraining order that freezes any further spending from the Wisner Trust.

The New Orleans City Council asked the judge to pause the city's use of millions of dollars from the trust fund, which Mayor LaToya Cantrell has used to fund nonprofits such as Forward Together New Orleans.

Mayor Cantrell released a statement disapproving of the court's action.

The City Council is asking the judge to issue an injunction at a hearing on Wednesday of this week.
