Hurricane Ian Close To Landfall Along Florida Gulf Coast

Hurricane Ian is set to make landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast in the next few hours.

The National Hurricane Center said the current maximum sustained winds remain close to 155 mph, which makes Ian a high-end category 4 storm.

Ian will strike Florida as a "catastrophic hurricane."

It's expected to weaken after making landfall eventually, but it could be near hurricane strength when travels to the state's east coast tomorrow.

Forecasters say storm surge could cause flooding in certain areas up to 18 feet.
