Police are investigating after a robber forced five employees of a McDonald's into a freezer at gunpoint.
The armed woman struck the burger joint on South Claiborne Avenue near Toledano Street at about 8 p.m. Monday.
Investigators say she forced a manager to open the safe, helped herself to cash, and ran away.
The Metropolitan Crime Commission says armed robbery in New Orleans is up nearly 50 percent compared to this time last year, outpacing all other violent crimes in the city.
