Gov. John Bel Edwards is calling for a special session of the state legislature to address the homeowners' insurance crisis in Louisiana.
Edwards says Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon is emphasizing that the Insure Louisiana Incentive Fund must be funded sooner than the start of the regular legislative session in April.
Following the hurricane seasons of 2020 and 2021, many insurers either went broke or fled the state.
The session would start next Monday and continue until February 5.
