Exxon Mobil is facing a lawsuit from the federal government after a Black employee reported several nooses found at a refinery complex in Baton Rouge.
According to the New York Times, the lawsuit states five nooses were found at the facility between 2016 and 2020, creating a hostile work environment for the employee and other workers.
The lawsuit goes on to claim that Exxon banned two contractors after the first noose was discovered, but did not identify a suspect in the other investigations.
Exxon says the incidents were thoroughly investigated.
