A judge that reportedly signed the petition to recall New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell is asking the Louisiana Supreme Court to determine if she should recuse herself from the case.
Judge Jennifer Medley filed a request to the court earlier this week after the group Voice of the Experienced called for the recall case to be transferred to another judge.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Medley signed the recall petition last December, then heard arguments in a lawsuit filed by the recall organizers over the number of signatures needed to trigger an election.
Mayor Cantrell's attorneys say Medley's failure to disclose that she signed the lawsuit was "patently unlawful."
