New Orleans' Audubon Aquarium is announcing the recent birth of male penguin chick.

The African black-footed chick was hatched in an incubator last month and is being looked after by Audubon staffers.

“African black-footed penguins are extremely endangered in the wild, so each new chick is important for the species survival,” said Bill Robles, Curator of Birds at Audubon Aquarium.

So far the chick doesn't have a name, but Audubon curators say they'll come up with something that reflects his Louisiana origins.
