New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is making her first public comments since the governor's office said the recall petition against her failed.
In a press conference today, Cantrell said the recall attempt was meant to discredit her as mayor, and believes that effort will continue.

She added that it feels like a weight has been lifted, and that she will continue to do the best job she can for everyone in the New Orleans community.
Gov. John Bel Edwards said the petition to recall Cantrell contained about 27,000 certified signatures, falling short of the almost 45,000 needed to trigger an election.
