The plans to redevelop the former Six Flags site in New Orleans East are now on the table.
The developing company, Bayou Phoenix, says the 227-acre plot will be the new home of an outdoor sports field, a water park, hotels, a family recreation center, an oasis, retail, dining, pools, and movie studios.
New Orleans Six Flags was abandoned after Hurricane Katrina clobbered it in 2005.
City Councilman Oliver Thomas says the new development may attract some of the millions of people who visit New Orleans every year.
