The Jefferson Parish School Board is proceeding with a plan to close several schools at the end of the current school year.

The school board voted Wednesday after an intense session in which parents, students, and teachers pleaded with them to keep the schools open.

Jefferson Parish Schools announced the details of the 2023 Infrastructure and Efficiency plan in a press release.

The plan will consolidate seven schools, move two schools, build two new campuses, and create a new pre-K through eighth-grade school.
