Officials say the toll on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway may be going up.
In 2017, the toll to drive from New Orleans to the North Shore rose from $3 to $5 to fund a $100 million safety program. Drivers with toll tags saw their toll rise from $2 to $3.
The safety measures, including improved guardrails, have been successful.
But officials say rising operational costs, such as insurance, fuel, and labor, may lead to another hike in the toll, though they haven't said how much or when.
