The Louisiana Rural Tourism and Byways Conference is underway this week in Port Allen.
Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser provided opening remarks on Wednesday at the West Baton Rouge CVB Conference Center.
The conference for tourism professionals is part of Nungesser's Rural Tourism Development Initiative.
The gathering offers technical and marketing assistance to rural communities statewide in their efforts to attract visitors.
The conference continues through Friday.
