The Southern Poverty Law Center is filing a complaint with the Department of Justice about perceived discrimination by the Jefferson Parish School District.

The complaint claims civil rights violations against students of color, multilingual students and their families, homeless students, and disabled students.

A press release mentioned racial and ethnic bullying and retaliation against those who spoke up.

The complaint also claims that the plan to move and close schools has a disproportionate impact on black and Hispanic students.
