The Louisiana Department of Health is launching a campaign to raise public awareness about deadly fentanyl overdoses.
The campaign kicked off on Tuesday, National Fentanyl Awareness Day. Gov. John Bel Edwards also declared Tuesday to be Fentanyl Awareness Day in Louisiana.
The campaign will involve public service announcements on the radio and information shared on the health agency's social media accounts.
Counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl killed more than a thousand Louisiana residents last year.
