A Denham Springs police officer remains in critical condition after they were shot by a suspect on Thursday.
Authorities say Cpl. Shawn Kelly responded to a disturbance in a shopping center near I-12 and was shot multiple times by 30-year-old Justin Roberts, who was shot by Livingston Parish deputies a short time later when he allegedly approached them with a gun.
Roberts was taken to the hospital where he later died.
A blood drive for Kelly was held this morning, and another will take place on Monday at the Livingston Parish Courthouse.
