The president of the Press Club of New Orleans is stepping down following the discovery of "financial irregularities" on his watch.

The Board of Directors announced on Friday that Louisiana Weekly associate editor David T. Baker had resigned.

The board reportedly discovered that about $50,000 was missing from the Press Club's accounts.

Local sportscaster Doug Mouton will serve as a temporary replacement until a new election in August.
