A coalition of French Quarter business owners is calling for changes to the rules about construction and renovation in the historic district.

The Vieux Carre Commission approves all changes made to building exteriors in an effort to protect the area's architectural integrity.

Business owners say the strict enforcement hinders their growth and operations.

District C Councilman Freddie King is proposing adjustments to the existing regulations, which he says often result in long legal battles and interfere with business development.
