A Republican congressman closely involved in the debt ceiling negotiations says House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's job is "absolutely safe."
Speaking on CBS's Face the Nation, Garrett Graves of Louisiana called McCarthy "one of the best strategists we've ever had."
Graves said that any call to oust McCarthy from his role as speaker is not a "mainstream position" within the Republican caucus.
While Graves said he agreed with President Biden that the debt ceiling negotiations were done in good faith, he noted there was a lot of candor and "some tense moments."
