State officials say two Ville Platte men are in trouble for using a car battery to catch fish.

Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries say they found the men fishing in a small boat on the Red River a week ago, using a 12-volt battery attached to a line and a metal can to jolt fish in the water.

The two men reportedly admitted they had caught two catfish by shocking them.

Agents cited Brandon Theriot for taking fish illegally and Reagan Theriot for angling without a license.
