Tropical Depression Three Forms In Atlantic

A new tropical depression has formed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and the Lesser Antilles.

The National Hurricane Center expects it will soon become Tropical Storm Bret, possibly reaching hurricane strength by mid-week.

There are questions as to whether the system will make a turn to the north or move into the eastern Caribbean as we approach the weekend. Early models favor the more southernly track, which will bring it close to Puerto Rico by the weekend.

A second system east of Tropical Depression Three is also being watched for possible development over the next few days.
